Guler Caglar
Guler Caglar was born in 1965 in Istanbul and later migrated to Canada at an older age. As an artist, the concept of fragmentation—one of the most significant phenomena of the 21st century—has always been central to her work. She has experienced major ruptures and separations in her life in the past, and in this context, migration has also represented a form of fragmentation. This experience, in addition to creating a sense of limbo, has also had an expansive effect. For her, migration offers the opportunity to carry more than one world within herself, enriching the creative process. One of the cornerstones of her art is the attempt to contribute to the synthesis between the East and the West. Throughout her artistic journey, she has often sought to achieve this synthesis using a contemporary language and a variety of materials.
