About Artist: 
Nasser Ovissi, a prominent figure in Iran's neo-traditionalist and Saqakhaneh movements, began his artistic journey after graduating in political science from the University of Tehran in 1956. Venturing to Rome, he immersed himself in various art forms, including painting, pottery, goldsmithing, and lithography, earning an art diploma and gaining recognition with the prestigious Work View of Tehran Painters award in his debut exhibition.
Ovissi's artistic evolution led him to merge Western painting techniques with indigenous Iranian aesthetics, aligning himself with the Saqakhaneh movement by the early 1960s. His works, inspired by Timurid and Seljuk art as well as Qajar-era opulence, incorporate calligraphic rhythms and abstract motifs like horses and women, reflecting his subjective exploration of Iranian painting traditions. Celebrated globally, Ovissi's art has been featured in exhibitions alongside luminaries such as Picasso and Chagall, earning him accolades like the High Prize at the International Art Exhibition of Monaco in 1974 and recognition in prestigious art references like the Thirteen-Volume French Encyclopedia of Art.
